Super Falcons and Barcelona Femini striker, Asisat Oshoala prefers Perpetua Nkwocha to Atletico Madrid forward, Rashedaat Ajibade in her attacking five-a-side lineup.
Oshoala, who was recently crowned with the Pichichi award in 2021-2022 season of Spain Women’s Primera Division, beating off close contenders like Geyse of Atletico Madrid and fellow teammates, Alexia Put ella and Lieken Martens, chose Chiamaka Nnadozie to man the goal post.
She described the 21-year-old goalkeeper, who is a fellow Super Falcon and plays in France for Paris FC in the French Division 1 female league, as a very good goalie who has shown a lot of promise at her age.
Nnadozie, having spent two seasons in France after her stint in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) with Rivers Angels, has featured 28 times in all competitions for the French side.
However, though, Oshoala’s 2021-2022 season was challenged with injuries that prevented the Super Falcon from featuring for Nigeria in the double-tie friendly with Canada, she chose Super Falcons’ captain Onome Ebi and Florence Omagbemi in her defence lineup.
She expressed that Ebi, 39, who plies her career in the Belarusian female league for FC Minsk, is aerially strong, agile and has good ball control.
Ebi, the first African footballer to partake in five FIFA World Cups and a four-time African Championship winner, has scored four goals this season in 19 appearances for Volodymyr Reva’s side.
The Barcelona striker also prefers having a visionary midfielder, schema and someone that can use the ball efficiently and opted for Eskilstuna United DFF’s midfielder, Ngozi Okobi.
Expectedly, the goal poacher, who became the third Barcelona player and the first of African descent to win the Pichichi award, led the attacking lineup with Rashedaat Ajibabe as a supporting striker.
Oshoala, however, considering the link to be created with the midfield and the attacking positions, swapped Rashedaat for Perpetua Nkwocha who she prefers as better pair.
“I’m gonna go with the female players. The goalkeeper, I will go with Chiamaka Nadozie. She’s so good, really good for her age and defender, Onome Ebi; a central defender, agile, strong aerially with the ball as
“… and five-a-side, I’m gonna use two defence line. I’ll go with Florence Omagbemi, another defender, and the midfield position I will have Okobi in the midfield five-a-side team. I love people who can actually use the ball, I love a visionary schema.
“In the attacking position, I have myself obviously. And then I’ll have Rashedaat, oh no! I will have Perpertua Nkwocha next to me. She can switch, she can be the link between the midfield and the attacking position in my five-a-side team,” Oshoala affirmed.
