PDP Primary Election: Ondo Senator loses return bid

Senator Ayo Akinyelure, currently representing Ondo Central in the National Assembly, has lost his return ticket to contest as a candidate under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Akinyelure was defeated at the party primary held on Monday by a lawyer, Ife Adedipe (SAN). The Trumpet Gathered

Adedipe polled 82 votes to beat Senator Akinyelure who scored 58 votes, while the former PDP Chairman in the state, Clement Faboyede polled 57 votes.

Akinyelure a tax practitioner and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; a Group Executive Chairman of the Allover Group, a microfinance lender, from 1994 to 2010 succeeded Senator Tayo Alasoadura and assumed office in June 2019 under the umbrella of PDP.
