A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian €1 ($1.15) in compensation over the armed robbery she suffered in the French capital in 2016.

The amount was the same compensation requested by the American reality TV star, according to a lawyer involved in the case.

Kardashian was targeted by a gang during Paris Fashion Week on October 2, 2016, after two of the attackers, dressed as police officers, forced their way into her suite at the Hôtel de Pourtalès.

The robbers reportedly restrained Kardashian with zip ties and tape before escaping with jewellery worth more than $6 million, including a diamond ring she had worn to a Givenchy show.

The case became one of France’s high-profile robbery trials, with several of the suspects becoming known as “les papys braqueurs”, or “grandpa robbers”, because of their ages.

Eight people were found guilty last year for their roles in the robbery. Due to time already spent in pretrial detention, none of those convicted returned to prison, while none appealed the verdict.

Following Tuesday’s ruling, Kardashian and her stylist, Simone Harouche, who was present during the incident, expressed appreciation for the French justice system.

“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” they said in a joint statement.

“We are thankful to the Court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal.”

The court also awarded €1 to Harouche, matching the amount she had requested.

A former receptionist at the hotel, who said he was traumatised by the robbery, was awarded €109,516 ($126,472).

He had sought €550,000 in damages and interest. The hotel itself was awarded €50,000.

Kardashian has previously described the robbery as “the most terrifying experience of my life” and said it had left a lasting impact on her and her family.

After the convictions, she said she was grateful to French authorities for pursuing justice, adding that she believed in accountability and healing.

The latest ruling brings a compensation phase of the long-running case to a close as Kardashian continues to move on from the incident.
