The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists, who were on a mission for a reprisal attack in Akure, the state capital.

According to the police, the three suspects: Adeyeye Deji, Adesuyi Damilola, and Abiodun Lekan were members of the Eiye Confraternity.

They were apprehended while plotting to attack members of the Odua People’s Congress, OPC, in the Ijoka area of Akure to revenge the attack on their leader by OPC.

The suspects were apprehended at Abusoro, Ijoka area of Akure, after a tip-off by a member of the public who informed the police

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami, during the parade, said the suspects were arrested by a team of detectives from the command.

Odunlami said the detectives recovered two locally made pistols from the cultists’ hideout, adding that some of the members are now at large.

“On 29th October 2022, at about 1200hrs, upon information received that some group of Eiye Confraternity was mobilizing to attack some OPC members at Abusoro, Ijoka Road, Akure, on a revenge mission.

“A team of Detectives from SWAT moved to the scene and arrested the following suspects: Adeyeye Deji, Adesuyi Damilola, and Abiodun Lekan.”

Reacting, the three suspects said they are members of the Confraternity, saying they voluntarily renounced the group and turned themselves into the police.
