The 100-megawatt power project and industrial park under development at Ologbo in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State are expected to strengthen electricity supply, support industrial activity and create employment opportunities as the state seeks to attract more private investment.
The project, being developed by CCETC at the Taihu Industrial Park, was officially launched on March 9, 2026, alongside a 300-metric-tonnes-per-day liquefied natural gas facility. Ologbo Power Project Takes Shape
The 100MW project is being developed by CCETC as part of the Taihu Industrial Park in Ologbo.
At the March groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Monday Okpebholo said the project was intended to support manufacturing, employment and sustainable economic growth in Edo State.
The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation also described the development as part of efforts to promote manufacturing, employment and sustainable economic development in the state.
Jiang Fan, who represented the project developers, said the facility would provide power for industries and communities while supporting the development of the industrial park.

The project includes a 100MW power-generating plant and a 300-metric-tonnes-per-day LNG facility. According to the Federal Information Centre, the first phase of the Taihu Benin Industrial Park covers 29 hectares, with CCETC serving as the developer and main contractor.
Power Supply and Industrial Investment
Reliable electricity has remained a major consideration for businesses operating in Nigeria, particularly manufacturers and other power-intensive industries.
The Edo project is therefore being positioned as infrastructure that could support businesses operating within and around the industrial park.
The Edo State Commissioner for Power, Paul Usebor, said the 100MW facility would strengthen electricity supply, while the LNG plant would support cleaner energy utilisation and greater energy security.
The project also builds on CCETC’s existing involvement in Edo’s power sector. The company previously developed the 55MW Ossiomo power project in Ologbo, which began supplying electricity in 2020.
Edo Takes Equity Stake
The Edo State Government disclosed in July that it had secured a 10 per cent equity stake in the proposed 100MW power plant.
Governor Okpebholo said the state obtained the stake in exchange for providing land and creating an enabling environment for the investment, without making a direct financial contribution to the project.
He said the arrangement would allow the state to benefit from the project’s long-term economic returns while supporting electricity supply and employment.
The governor also said the state planned to encourage additional power projects in Edo Central and Edo North as part of efforts to improve electricity supply across the state.
Jobs and Local Economic Opportunities
The development is expected by the project promoters and state government to generate employment during construction and create additional opportunities as industrial activities expand.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government chairman, Eric Osawaru, said the project would create jobs, develop skills and support community empowerment.
Residents of Ologbo have also expressed optimism about the potential economic impact of the development, particularly the prospect of improved electricity supply and increased commercial activity.
For businesses, access to more reliable electricity could reduce dependence on alternative power sources and improve the operating environment. However, the extent of the project’s eventual economic impact will depend on its completion, commissioning and the number of businesses that ultimately operate within the industrial park.
Project’s Next Phase
The 100MW power plant, LNG facility and industrial park form part of Edo State’s wider push to attract private investment into infrastructure and industrial development.
The state government has presented the Ologbo project as an opportunity to link energy infrastructure with manufacturing and employment.
With construction progressing, attention will now focus on the completion and commissioning of the facilities, the actual volume of electricity delivered to off-takers and the extent to which the industrial park attracts new businesses and creates jobs.
