Fatai made the appeal during a TikTok Live session, where he reflected on their once-close relationship, recounted his unsuccessful attempts to reconnect with the industrialist and pleaded for forgiveness.
He described his father as a mentor who introduced him to the business world during his childhood, expressing sadness over how their relationship deteriorated over the years.
According to Fatai, he travelled with his father to several countries, including Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, where he learnt about business and industrial operations.
He said the experience made their estrangement particularly painful, considering how closely they once related.
What Happened At Okoya’s 86th Birthday
Fatai’s appeal comes months after he attended his father’s 86th birthday celebration on January 12, 2026, hoping to use the occasion to reconnect with him.
He claimed he was invited to the event at his father’s Lekki estate, Oluwanishola, and received a VIP welcome before being seated near the front of the venue.
He added that his aunt, Wosila, who is the industrialist’s sister, approached him and assured him that his father had been informed of his presence.
However, Fatai alleged that when he later attempted to approach his father, the businessman’s wife, Shade Okoya, stopped him, insisting that he needed to be formally announced before seeing the industrialist.
Fatai claimed his father recognised him, but did not intervene in the situation.
He also said several individuals, including Chief I. S. Adewale and Chief Mogaji Okoya Thomas, had attempted to mediate in the dispute, although their efforts did not result in a lasting reconciliation.

Causes Of The Rift
Explaining some of the issues that contributed to the breakdown of their relationship, Fatai identified his father’s opposition to his earlier marriage as one of the factors.
He said he went ahead with the marriage despite his father’s advice, adding that disagreements surrounding an industry he managed and allegations of financial misconduct further complicated matters.
Fatai denied embezzling money, insisting that he did not misappropriate funds during his involvement in the business.
Despite the prolonged disagreement, he maintained that he wanted to restore his relationship with his father rather than allow the dispute to continue.
In an emotional appeal, he asked the industrialist to forgive his past mistakes and acknowledge that he had grown into an adult.
Fatai said he hoped his father would use his experience and wisdom to bring the family together and resolve the matter permanently.
He added that reconciliation would give them an opportunity to rebuild their relationship and restore family unity.
Razaq Okoya, founder of the Eleganza Group, is one of Nigeria’s prominent industrialists.
His family life has occasionally attracted public attention, but Fatai’s latest account centres on his desire to end the decades-long estrangement.
