Apex Igbo Socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, has eulogized the nation’s Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, saying he’s a worthy successor of Dim Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and Late former vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
Ohanaeze said that after an extensive search for a leader who could guide the South-East towards better political representation and a unifying rallying point, it recognized Senator David Nweze Umahi.
A statement signed on Wednesday, by Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu lsiguzoro noted that in the absence of influential figures such as Ojukwu, Dr Michael Okpara, Dr Sam Mbakwe, Dr Alex Ekweme, Pa Mbazulike Amaechi, and Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife had left a void in the Southeast, Engr. David Umahi is undeniably the perfect peg in a round hole.
The organisation stated that as a detribalized Nigerian administrator, Umahi has demonstrated remarkable leadership by ensuring the equitable distribution of road construction projects in all the six geopolitical zones of the country.
According to the statement, Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses eternal gratitude to President BolaTinubu for giving Nigerians the privilege of having Senator Umahi as a representative, and for employing innovative cement and concrete technologies.
It implored Senaor Umahi to step into the illustrious shoes of Ojukwu, Ekwueme, and other revered leaders to address and alleviate the challenges faced by the people of the Southeast.
The Igbo body stated that Umahi possesses the qualities and pedigree required to become the missing link in the Southeast region, adding that he’s the new political leader and rallying point that will unite our people.

“Furthermore, Senator Umahi’s membership in the Tinubu-led Federal Government facilitates a stronger connection between the Southeast and the centre enabling greater participation and representation within the mainstream political party.
“Ndigbo acknowledges this as a significant opportunity for the Southeast to rally Senator Umahi and work collaboratively towards the region’s development and progress.
Nothing that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, along with its leadership and members, pledges unwavering support to Senator Engr. David Umahi in his political endeavours.
Believing that under his astute leadership, the Southeast will experience positive transformation and emerge stronger than ever before.
