Nigerian comedian Ogbeni Adan has sparked controversy on social media after making a series of emotional claims about his relationship with his mother, alleging that their family troubles have affected his personal life, career and relationships.
The comedian made the allegations in several posts shared on Instagram, where he identified his mother as Bolanle Moniade Agun and accused her of allegedly frustrating his progress and interfering with aspects of his life.
Ogbeni Adan expressed deep emotional distress over the situation, describing his mother in extremely harsh terms and claiming that she had allegedly contributed to difficulties in his relationships and career.
He also alleged that people who could have supported his progress were prevented from doing so, although he did not provide evidence to substantiate the claims.
In one of his posts, the comedian questioned what he described as a contradiction between his mother’s public religious activities and what he alleged were her actions towards him privately.
“Imagine make another person mama dey pray for you and wish you well, but your own mama dey do the exact opposite,” he wrote.
The comedian also said he sometimes wished he had been born to a different mother, while acknowledging that children have no control over the circumstances of their birth.
His posts further contained allegations of spiritual interference, with Ogbeni Adan suggesting that his mother was working against his progress despite being a churchgoer.

The claims, however, remain unverified, and there was no independent evidence presented in the posts to establish that his mother had deliberately attempted to sabotage his career, relationships or personal development.

He appealed to his followers and people who had supported his comedy career to pray for him, saying he was going through a particularly difficult period.
His references to thoughts of suicide also raised concern among some social media users, who urged him to seek professional and personal support rather than continue dealing with the situation alone.
The comedian’s revelations have since generated widespread reactions online, with many users expressing concern over the decision to make such serious family allegations publicly.
