Ahead of the next week’s African U21 Women’s Volleyball Nation’s Championship in Tunisia, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) invited 23 players to camp in Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna.
In a report by the NVBF, the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) scheduled the championship to hold from August 26 – September 5, 2022, in Tunis, Tunisia.
This event comes after their male U21 counterpart would have completed their championship on 23 August hosted by same Tunisia.
According to the head coach of the U21 women’s volleyball team, Rakiya Mohammed, a product of the youth team that competed in national and continental tourneys, the best among the invited players will be selected for the competition.
Mohammed, a former U19 assistant coach, while being abreast with the importance of the championship, appreciated the NVBF for finding her worthy to lead the team to victory in Tunis.
“I am a product of underage championships in Nigeria and Africa; I know the essence of the U21 African Nation’s Championships,” said the newly appointed head coach.
“The coaching crew will select the best hands in camp when the championship proper is near.
