Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu has responded to a viral video showing him selling second-hand clothes, popularly known as okrika, in a market, dismissing criticism trailing the clip.

The video, which circulated widely on social media, captured the actor interacting with customers while displaying his merchandise. While some questioned why a public figure would engage in small-scale trading, others praised his humility and work ethic.

Reacting in a follow-up video, Madu said he remains unbothered by the reactions, stressing that there is dignity in honest work regardless of status.

According to him, the clip simply showed him going about his business, adding that he sees nothing wrong in earning a legitimate income through trade.

The actor also disclosed that he recently travelled to London to restock his goods and intends to continue the business upon his return to Nigeria.

He maintained that critics are entitled to their opinions but insisted he would stay focused on his ventures.

Madu’s response has reignited conversations around celebrities diversifying their income streams, with many noting that multiple sources of livelihood have become increasingly important in today’s economic climate.
