Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially joined the United States Army after successfully completing his Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood.
The actor announced the milestone on his Instagram page, describing it as a deeply emotional achievement and a way of continuing the legacy of his late father, who served as a police officer in Nigeria before his death.
According to Momodu, the enlistment came 20 years after the passing of his father, and he sees the move as carrying forward the values and service his father represented.
“On April 12, 2026, I honoured my late father in a historic way. Twenty years after his passing, I picked up the baton where he left off in the Nigerian Police Force and carried it forward by getting enlisted into the United States Army,” he wrote.
The actor revealed that he is now officially serving as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.
