There are indications that the frosty relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State is finally over.
Reports indicate that the recalcitrant state House of Assembly has passed the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, (MTEF) 2026-2028 submitted to the lawmakers by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
It was gathered that the embattled governor submitted the MTEF on Thursday, at the legislative quarters of the lawmakers where they are temporarily using as legislative complex.
The lawmakers have repeatedly turned down overtures by the governor to enable him present the 2026 appropriation bill for consideration and approval.

Instead, the lawmakers who enlisted themselves in the feud between the governor and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, threatened to impeach the governor for allegedly spending money that was not approved by the house.
However by expeditiously passing the MTEF presented to them on Thursday by the governor, observers say governance would begin to have a breathe of fresh air as the state was almost shutting down following the non approval of the 2026 state budget by the state House of Assembly.
