The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has called for strategic partnerships as a key driver for growth, sustainability, and value creation in Nigeria’s downstream sector.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, represented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mr. Mumuni Dagazau, made this known during the 2025 Inaugural Annual Downstream Petroleum Week, organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Ojulari described the nation’s downstream landscape as one defined by transition, opportunity, and reform, stressing that collaboration among key players is vital for achieving a sustainable energy future. He noted that Africa’s energy demand is projected to surge significantly over the coming years, with Nigeria positioned as a major driver of this growth.
According to him, meeting this rising demand will require “coordinated efforts and shared responsibility” among stakeholders to harness opportunities and deliver long-term sectoral benefits.

“The opportunity to create a sustainable economy for today and the future is hinged on supply partnerships, infrastructure co-investments, security collaborations, host community cooperation, and operational alliances,” he said. “Everyone must play a role in shaping a promising future for Nigeria’s energy sector.”
Ojulari commended the National Assembly and the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) for providing a platform for dialogue, noting that NNPC Ltd., as both a commercial and national energy company, remains committed to promoting stakeholder engagement and innovative collaboration models that will drive sector-wide growth.
The event, themed “Celebrating Our Successes, Confronting Our Challenges, and Finding Solutions for the Petroleum Downstream Sector,” brought together key players from across the downstream petroleum industry, policymakers, and legislators at the National Assembly Complex.
