The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended seven individuals allegedly involved in the theft and sabotage of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines. The suspects, now detained in Yola, Adamawa’s capital, face serious charges related to economic sabotage.
The individuals, identified as Umar Musa (40), Mohammed Hassan (25), Adamu Abdullahi (28), Yakubu Adamu (27), Gabriel Wale (40), Abubakar Garba (40), and Aliyu Muhammad (28), were taken into custody based on credible information provided by an alert community member.
The Adamawa Police spokesperson, Seiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed that the arrests followed a tip-off from a concerned citizen. According to the statement, the NNPC pipeline targeted by the suspects is a critical asset, supplying fuel from Adamawa to southern Nigeria. The operation was described as a major act of economic sabotage, threatening public safety and essential infrastructure.

Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris commended the vigilance of the community and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to securing public assets. “This arrest is a reminder of our commitment to protect national assets and ensure safety. We urge all residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities immediately,” he stated.
The police have begun a comprehensive investigation into the incident and are actively pursuing additional suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
