The first female fighter pilot in Nigeria’s history, Flight Lieutenant Kafayat Sanni, has once again carved her name in the annals of military excellence, receiving accolades at the esteemed Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in Accra.
During the graduation ceremony held on Friday, Sanni was honoured with the titles of Best Allied Student and recipient of the Best Assistant Commandant Paper award.
This recognition represents an exceptional achievement among a diverse group of military personnel from various African nations.
The announcement was made in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, during a briefing in Abuja on Saturday.
Ejodame emphasized the significance of the awards, noting their presentation in a ceremonial event that gathered prominent military officials and dignitaries from across the continent.
Flt. Lt. Sanni first gained national and international attention in 2019, when she was officially recognized as the NAF’s inaugural female fighter pilot after successfully completing her rigorous pilot training programme in the United States.
Since her groundbreaking achievement, Sanni has demonstrated exemplary skill and dedication by flying the Alpha Jet and participating in advanced training exercises on the Super Mushshak aircraft.
