Nigeria’s boxing team will face the Ghanaian boxing contingent in an international friendly in Accra, as part of preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The Competition, scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at the Accra Sports Stadium, is aimed at assessing the readiness of both countries’ boxers ahead of the Games.
The bouts will feature seven male boxers competing across approved weight divisions, while the women’s team will include three fighters in the 54kg,57kg, and 71kg weight categories.
Nigeria’s team is expected to depart for Accra today, giving them time to settle before the event.

Chairman of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) Technical Committee, Babatunde Laguda, described the friendly as an important step in evaluating the athletes.
NBF Vice President, Omonlei Imadu, also revealed plans for additional international friendlies as part of preparations.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland.
