President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, has returned to the FCT after spending several weeks on official engagements outside Abuja, expressing delight at being back in time to witness the decisive stages of the 3rd Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League in Abuja.
Nimrod said he was pleased to return for the first phase of the competition’s closing fixtures, including the semi-finals and finals, describing the tournament as another important milestone in the federation’s efforts to strengthen domestic volleyball and discover new talents.

Meanwhile, Day 12 of the first phase of the championship on Friday produced another round of dominant performances across the men’s and women’s categories.
In the women’s division, NSCDC defeated Benue Queens in straight sets (25-15, 25-11, 25-14), while CNS Spikers also recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over Lifecamp VC with set scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-12.
NAF Rockets maintained their impressive run by overcoming Anambra Queens 3-0, winning 25-23, 25-17 and 25-17, while COAS Spikers outclassed Olalomi Royal Angels 25-10, 25-9 and 25-22.
Nigeria Customs Service continued its dominance with another straight-set victory over Excelsior VC, claiming the match 25-13, 25-10 and 25-13.
The most closely contested women’s fixture saw Fire Service edge Kada Emeralds 3-2 after a thrilling five-set battle. Fire Service prevailed 25-20, 18-25, 12-25, 25-20 and 15-10.

In the men’s category, Nigeria Customs Service maintained its unbeaten form with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Offa VC, winning 25-15, 25-15 and 25-22.
CNS Spikers emerged victorious in one of the day’s most exciting encounters, defeating Nigeria Police Force 3-2 after recovering strongly to claim the deciding set 15-7. The match ended 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 25-15 and 15-7.
Kano Pillars secured a straight-set victory over Ajase Ipo with scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23, while Nigeria Correctional Service defeated Sunshine Spikers 25-23, 25-19 and 25-12.
NSCDC also continued its impressive campaign by overcoming Life Camp Volleyball Club 3-0, with the third set extending to 29-27 after a spirited challenge from their opponents.
Defence Spikers wrapped up the day’s action with a 3-1 victory over UCEM VC, winning 25-21, 19-25, 25-21 and 25-23.
With the first phase nearing its conclusion, attention now shifts to the semi-finals and finals, where the country’s top volleyball teams will battle for honours as the federation continues its drive to raise the standard of the sport in Nigeria.
