The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of cocaine allegedly concealed inside phone chargers and destined for Saudi Arabia.

The development was disclosed on Sunday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a post shared on X.
Babafemi said the discovery demonstrates the increasingly creative methods allegedly being adopted by drug traffickers to conceal illicit substances and evade detection.
According to him, the items appeared to be ordinary phone chargers on the surface, but NDLEA operatives discovered that they had been modified to conceal cocaine.
The agency’s spokesperson said the consignment was intercepted before the drugs could reach their intended destination in Saudi Arabia.

Babafemi also renewed the NDLEA’s warning to members of the public against accepting or helping to transport parcels, luggage or other items for third parties without knowing their contents.
He noted that drug traffickers could exploit unsuspecting individuals by concealing illicit substances in seemingly harmless packages and asking others to deliver them.
The latest interception highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies as traffickers continue to devise new methods of moving illegal drugs across borders.
The agency did not disclosed the quantity of cocaine recovered, the identity of the intended recipient or whether any suspect has been arrested in connection with the seizure.
The NDLEA has repeatedly advised Nigerians, particularly travellers and courier users, to exercise caution when accepting packages from other people to avoid unknowingly becoming involved in drug trafficking.
