The Managing Director designate of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his trust in members of the new Board to pilot the affairs of the Commission.
Speaking to journalists after his screening by the Nigeria Senate in Abuja, Ogbuku said: “I cannot thank President Buhari enough for trusting us to pilot the affairs of the Commission at this point in time, the mandate of the NDDC is to develop the region and for me, that will be our focus.
According to him, the new Board will take development to the Niger Delta people especially those in rural communities as many communities still lack basic amenities.

Ogbuku, said the Board, on assumption of office, will engage stakeholders in the region to know their challenges first-hand as this would arm the board on how best to tackle the challenges.
“We will run an all-inclusive Government as the Elders, women and youths will be part of what we are doing and will do, he said.
“I am not promising that we can or will solve all the problems of Niger Deltans, but God helping us, we will give and do our very best so that at the end of the day, we would have put smiles on the faces of our people. All we need is the belief and commitment of all concerned parties as everyone has a major stake and input to make”,
He thanked the National Assembly for the seamless screening process and assured of a smooth working relationship, especially with the Committees on NDDC.
