The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has resolved post-primary election disputes in Delta State, with party leaders and stakeholders rallying behind the party’s governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, disclosed this in a statement shared on his official social media handle after a series of consultations, reconciliation meetings and stakeholder engagements held in Abuja.

According to Sen. Dickson, a stakeholders’ meeting convened for Delta State leaders successfully addressed and settled issues arising from the party’s governorship primary election, paving the way for the commencement of electioneering activities and campaign preparations across the state and the South-South region.
He commended stakeholders for demonstrating maturity, understanding, and a sense of responsibility throughout the process, noting that the resolution of disagreements had strengthened the party’s readiness for the upcoming electoral contest.
Sen. Dickson particularly praised all aspirants who participated in the Delta governorship primary, stating that they had agreed to work together in support of the party’s candidate, Deacon Iyovwaye.

“There is no doubt that he possesses the qualities required to serve the people of Delta State effectively as governor,” Sen. Dickson stated.
The NDC leader said the party is determined to present candidates of proven capacity across the country and expressed confidence that Iyovwaye would provide purposeful leadership if elected.
“Deacon Chris will make an excellent governor, and we urge all party members and supporters to rally behind him as we prepare for his formal unveiling,” he added.
Sen. Dickson also used the occasion to reiterate the party’s commitment to strengthening its structures nationwide.
He noted that the NDC had overcome significant challenges since its formation, including securing registration, conducting voter registration exercises, organising congresses and completing its primary elections within a short period.
He made the remarks during a pre-National Executive Committee (NEC) gathering held ahead of the party’s formal NEC meeting, scheduled for the NDC national secretariat.
The former Bayelsa State governor expressed appreciation to state chairmen and members of the National Working Committee for their commitment and sacrifices, urging them to sustain the momentum as the party prepares for the next phase of its activities.
The development is expected to bolster the NDC’s preparations in Delta State, where the party is positioning itself for a competitive outing in the forthcoming governorship election.
