The naira to dollar exchange rate today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, stands at ₦1,329.80 per dollar in the official market, while the dollar is trading at about ₦1,389 in the parallel market.
The latest official figure is based on the most recent closing rate recorded by the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) on Monday, September 21, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The latest figure represents a slight improvement in the value of the naira compared with the previous NFEM closing rate of ₦1,331.20/$1.
The naira therefore gained about ₦1.40 against the dollar between the two official-market sessions.
In the parallel market, the dollar continued to trade above the official rate, with market indications putting the buying rate at around ₦1,381/$1 and the selling rate at approximately ₦1,389/$1.
Based on the reported selling rate, $100 would cost about ₦138,900, while $500 would amount to approximately ₦694,500.

The gap reflects the different pricing conditions in Nigeria’s official and parallel foreign exchange markets.
However, the published rates should not be regarded as the exact amount every customer will receive or pay.
Commercial banks and Bureau de Change operators may quote different rates depending on the transaction size, location, dollar availability and prevailing market conditions.
The parallel-market rate can also change during the day as demand and supply conditions shift.

The naira to dollar exchange rate remains a key indicator for Nigerians dealing with international payments, imports, travel expenses, school fees and other dollar-denominated transactions.
