The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at the NAF Base in Ikeja, Lagos.

The service disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, saying the helicopters were supplied by Airbus Helicopters and reassembled with the assistance of technical personnel from the company.
According to the NAF, the exercise is expected to deepen technical cooperation with Airbus while promoting knowledge transfer and giving Nigerian Air Force personnel practical experience in the maintenance and support of modern rotary-wing aircraft.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as an important step towards improving the service’s technical and operational capabilities.
Aneke said the acquisition of modern aircraft must be accompanied by the development of the skills, partnerships and support systems needed to maintain them and maximise their operational value.
“Beyond acquiring modern platforms, we are committed to developing the knowledge, partnerships and support systems required to maximise their operational value and sustain them throughout their service life,” he said.

The NAF said the H125 helicopters would strengthen its capabilities for ongoing air operations, including surveillance, tactical mobility and other operational support missions.
The service added that the local reassembly exercise would further expose its personnel to the technical requirements associated with the operation and maintenance of the aircraft.
The Nigerian Air Force also acknowledged the continued support and strategic direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the administration’s focus on strengthening national security capabilities had contributed to efforts to modernise its fleet and improve operational effectiveness.
