How MTN Subscribers Can Check ₦50,000 Grant Eligibility
The grant is part of the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), a Federal Government programme designed to provide ₦50,000 in financial assistance to selected vulnerable Nigerians.
According to information published by Punch, MTN subscribers can check their eligibility through MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB), the designated payment channel for beneficiaries using the network.
To check their status, MTN subscribers are required to follow these steps:
- Dial *671*0# on their MTN mobile phones.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Check the eligibility notification received.
- If selected, follow the subsequent instructions to access the grant.
The USSD option allows subscribers to check their eligibility without downloading a mobile application or visiting a physical office.
How Selected Beneficiaries Can Receive the ₦50,000 Grant
Subscribers who receive a successful selection notification may be required to activate a MoMo wallet if they do not already have one.
Once the payment is processed, beneficiaries can access their funds through USSD, the MoMo NG application or an authorised MoMo agent.
However, checking eligibility does not automatically qualify a subscriber for the grant. The Federal Government determines beneficiaries through existing records, including the National Social Register and verified identity information.
MTN subscribers who receive a ‘NOT SELECTED’ notification may have to wait for further announcements regarding subsequent phases of the intervention.
The programme is being implemented in batches, but an unsuccessful notification does not guarantee that a subscriber will be selected in a later round.
The Federal Government has also clarified that the grant is not available to every MTN customer. Having an active MTN SIM card does not automatically qualify anyone for the ₦50,000 payment.

MTN Warns Subscribers Against ₦50,000 Grant Scams
Meanwhile, MTN Nigeria has warned subscribers about fraudulent messages circulating online, claiming to offer guaranteed access to the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief grant.
The telecommunications company dismissed a circulating message instructing customers who receive ‘NOT ELIGIBLE’ or ‘NOT SELECTED’ notifications to send ‘YES’ to an unofficial code to obtain automatic approval within 24 hours.
MTN urged subscribers to disregard the message and avoid clicking on suspicious links or disclosing sensitive personal information.
Customers were specifically advised not to share their one-time passwords (OTPs), PINs, banking details or account passwords with individuals claiming to facilitate the grant.
The Federal Government has also maintained that beneficiaries are not required to pay registration fees or give money to agents to secure the financial intervention.
For enquiries and complaints, Nigerians can contact the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
The ₦50,000 support is a non-repayable financial intervention intended for selected vulnerable Nigerians. MTN subscribers are therefore advised to use the designated USSD channel to check their eligibility rather than rely on unofficial registration links or individuals promising guaranteed payments.
