Tension erupted in Mosogar Community, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, as an enraged mob captured and set two men ablaze over allegations of attempted kidnapping.
The gruesome incident, which occurred on the evening of Thursday, February 13, 2025, sent shockwaves through the community. Eyewitnesses revealed that the chaos began when four men allegedly tried to abduct a woman. The victim’s loud cries for help alerted residents and passersby, triggering a dramatic chase.
While two of the suspected kidnappers managed to escape, the other two were not as lucky. The mob caught up with them, meting out instant jungle justice by first hacking them before setting their bodies on fire. Videos and images of the horrific scene have since surfaced online, sparking heated debates over the rising trend of mob actions in Nigeria.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, told our correspondent in a telephone conversation that the authorities are aware of the situation. However, he declined to provide further details.
