The Argentine captain found the net in the 47th and 60th minutes on Sunday, October 11, helping Miami claim only their second win in 11 Major League Soccer (MLS) matches.
Former Uruguay international Luis Suarez had put Miami in control with a first-half brace, scoring in the third and 39th minutes to give the hosts a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
Suarez opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed effort into the top corner before doubling his tally shortly before half-time.
Messi extended the advantage two minutes after the restart, converting an assist from Suarez before completing his brace in the 60th minute following an assist from Rodrigo De Paul.
Back In Action After Argentina Farewell
The victory came just four days after Messi scored in his final appearance for Argentina, bringing an end to an illustrious international career that saw him establish himself as his country’s all-time leading scorer and most-capped player.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner finished his international career with 126 goals in 208 appearances. He also captained Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup title in Qatar.
