Nigerian gospel sensation Mercy Chinwo has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world with explosive allegations against her former manager, Ezekiel ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee. In a dramatic turn of events, Chinwo accused Eezee Tee of contract fraud, financial misconduct, and unauthorized control over her music earnings, sparking a heated public controversy.
According to a statement released by her legal team, the award-winning singer claimed she was manipulated into signing a contract in 2017, which was later replaced in 2019 with a version that misrepresented key terms. To her shock, she only received a copy of the altered contract in November 2022, long after its expiration, revealing hidden changes and an extended contract duration without her consent.
But the allegations don’t stop there. Chinwo further accused Eezee Tee of embezzling her digital streaming revenue, falsely claiming ownership of her hit songs, and keeping her in the dark about her finances while allegedly pocketing a staggering $274,000.

As the controversy escalated, popular social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), threw fuel on the fire, slamming Chinwo for going public with the accusations. In a scathing online rant, he branded the singer a “terrible person”, suggesting that her allegations were an orchestrated smear campaign to regain control over her music catalogue.
VDM claimed that Eezee Tee had been lured into a meeting and arrested, allegedly under duress from the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission), and forced to make payments to Chinwo. He insisted that he had evidence proving Mercy Chinwo was the aggressor in the situation, not the victim.
Online reactions have been fierce and divided, with supporters of both parties engaging in heated debates. While some urged Chinwo to present solid evidence without invoking religion, others blasted VDM for being one-sided and biased in his take on the matter.
Twitter user @Salihuidoko advised, “My plea to Mercy Chinwo is that when defending herself against VDM’s allegations, she should leave God’s name alone from her lips. Come with hard evidence.”
Another user, @Okolielvis, questioned VDM’s neutrality: “Why does it feel like VDM has something against Mercy Chinwo? You can practice investigative journalism while remaining civil. There’s no need to take sides—just present the facts and findings.”
Criticizing VDM’s apparent alignment with Eezee Tee, @petiteharzard wrote, “The guy is twisting the narrative. Eezee Concept has briefed you, and you believe him without hearing Mercy Chinwo’s part. You choose who to support and ignore the other side.”
Meanwhile, the controversy has reignited debates about ethics in gospel music, with some fans expressing deep disappointment in the public fallout. @Charles_marly posted a fiery comment: “I don’t know how this issue started, I wasn’t there, but these so-called ministers and pastors are all hypocrites! What they preach is different from what they practice. Rubbish!”
As the Chinwo vs. Eezee Tee drama unfolds, the industry is watching closely. Will Mercy Chinwo provide irrefutable proof of fraud? Or will Eezee Tee’s defence and VDM’s claims turn the tide against her? One thing is certain—this gospel music battle is far from over.
