Edo speaker pledges support to assist Gov. Okpebholo fulfil campaign promises

The Speaker Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has reaffirmed the House continuous support for the policies and programmes of Governor Monday Okpebholo in ensuring that he fulfils the campaign promises made to the people of the state.

The speaker, principal officers and members of the state House of Assembly were at the governor’s residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of the state on an Easter visit.

The speaker on behalf of the 24 members of the assembly appreciated the governor for the notable achievements recorded in governance since he assumed office on November 12, 2024.

The speaker said: “Today, we are in your country home to celebrate Easter with you and to also let you know that you are doing great work for Edo people.

“We promise to support you as a House and assure you that every budget you submit to the House will appropriately be approved to ensure you continue to implement the SHINE Agenda for the benefits of Edo people.

“When you bring the budget we will look at it properly and do the needful. We will continue to collaborate with the executive and support your developmental agenda for the betterment of Edo people,” the speaker said.

“It will be indelible in the history of Nigeria, in the history of Edo State and the world that the first flyover in Edo is being constructed by your administration and you have done so much for Edo people in the last one year in office.”

Responding to the commendations from the assembly members, Gov. Okpebholo thanked the members for their harmonious working relationships with the executive arm of government which is largely responsible for the progress made in the past one year of his administration.

The governor said the harmonious working relationship has brought unity between the two arms of government, enabling his administration to actualize and achieve a lot in the area of infrastructural development in the last one year.

He commended them for sustaining the synergy that has existed and sued for more cooperation in the coming years, noting that his administration will achieve a lot in a peaceful environment.

“I am very happy that since I assumed the office in November 2024, you have created a peaceful atmosphere for my administration to achieve its set down goals, and implement policies that have moved the state forward.

“The harmonious working relationship shared between the executive and legislative arm of government is largely responsible for the appreciable success recorded by my administration in the past one year.

“We are working together in unity and since we came together as one, there have been tangible and positive results to show for our cooperation and collaboration.

“When the house is united and there is no division, there is always a pass mark to show Edo people,” Gov. Okpebholo concluded.
