- The dispute has sparked wider debate over burial rights of surviving spouses.
Orifunke gave the advice in a post shared on X on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, following the dispute between the singer’s wife and her father-in-law, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, over where the deceased should be laid to rest.
The controversy began after ToluwaniSings died on October 24, with his father reportedly appealing to his daughter-in-law to allow him to bury his son in his house or family compound rather than in a cemetery.
‘Fight First, Then Mourn Later’
Reacting to the development, Orifunke urged the bereaved wife to prepare for a possible legal battle, warning that she might face pressure from her late husband’s family if the disagreement continued.
“My unsolicited advice for Toluwanisings’ wife: first of all, wipe your tears. Let your eyes be clear. Unfortunately, you do not have the allowance to mourn deeply right now. It is time to fight first, then mourn later,” she wrote.
The media personality encouraged the widow to consult a lawyer and seek support from her late husband’s friends, stressing the need for her to protect her interests during the dispute.
“Find a lawyer. Prevail upon his friends to stand for you. His family seem to be out to frustrate you; do not allow them. When they push once, push thrice. Stand o,” Orifunke added.
She further warned that the disagreement could drag on and make an already painful period more difficult for the singer’s wife.
Orifunke also referenced the controversies surrounding the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, drawing attention to the challenges his wife, Wunmi Aloba, faced following his death.
“There are times when you’ll be calm. And there are times when you bring out all the madness you have. This is one of those times for the latter. Wipe your tears and stand up,” she stated.

The intervention has added to public discussions surrounding the disagreement between ToluwaniSings’ wife and father over the singer’s final resting place.
Beyond the immediate family dispute, the controversy has also drawn attention to the difficulties that can arise when surviving spouses and extended family members disagree over burial arrangements.
Such disagreements can create additional emotional and legal challenges for grieving families, particularly when the wishes of the deceased and the positions of relatives are contested.
As the dispute continues to attract attention, Orifunke’s message has centred on urging the singer’s wife to seek legal guidance and stand firm while navigating the difficult circumstances surrounding her husband’s burial.
