Ten Hag has identified De Jong as a key factor needed in his plans to rejuvenate the club back to its glory days, prompting United to enter into an intensive bid for the Barcelona midfielder. The Trumpet Gathered

According to a report from Spain, United’s first bid was outrightly rejected by the Catalans, who believe the player they signed in 2019 from Ajax in a five-year contract, is worth above €75m.

The Red Devils are not backing out of the deal and have kept close contact with the Catalans for further negotiations to see the player, who scored a goal and assisted two in Barcelona’s 4-0 defeat of Athletic
Bilbao in the 2021 Copa del Rey final, becomes the pivotal point of United midfield.
