LP, PDP, APC, others to luck horns in Governorship debate in Rivers

Ahead of the March 11 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, no fewer than six governorship candidates will feature at the ‘Governorship Debate 2023’ organized by the Rivers State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

A statement issued by the union on Friday informed members of the public and all political parties that the Governorship Debate would hold on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

The statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the union, Stanley Job Stanley and Ike Wigodo said the venue for the debate is the NUJ Main Hall along Moscow Road; and the time is 5:00 pm.5:00 pm

“The NUJ in the state together with our partners are also glad to announce that six out of the seven Governorship candidates have signified their intentions to be present for the debate and we want to use the opportunity to reach out to the over three million registered voters in the state, especially the Undecided Voters who may wish to make final decisions on their choice of preferred candidates to avail themselves the opportunity and tune in to the programme.

“The parties lined up for participation include; (in no particular order) the Action Alliance, Accord, All Progressives Congress, Booth Party, Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and Social Democratic Party.

“A questions review panel has been set up while the panel of interviewers is in place to ensure a seamless and hitch-free debate.

“All media houses in Rivers State are billed to cover the event while live TV and Radio coverage are already in place”, the statement read in part.

The statement said members of the general public who may be willing to send in questions are free to do so via mobile No: 0802 300 4210, while attendance is strictly by invitation as accreditation of media houses is presently ongoing.

The union expressed gratitude to her sponsors: NewsAfrica-London, Kebetkache-Nigeria and Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Eco.

While assuring the public of good governorship debate, the union also expressed gratitude to her media partners for the debate: Atlantic Television, Wish FM, Love FM, Wave FM and Today FM.
