Residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have rejected relief materials provided by the government following a deadly attack, insisting that their priority is improved security and the safe return of abducted residents.
The relief items, which reportedly included mats, buckets, and school bags, were delivered in an ambulance, a development that further angered members of the grieving community. In a viral video, residents were seen turning down the supplies, describing them as inadequate in the face of the scale of destruction and loss suffered.
Voices from the community stressed that material support cannot replace the urgent need for protection and rescue efforts. Many residents insisted that what they require most is a stronger security presence to prevent further attacks and secure the release of those taken during the incident.

The rejection follows reports that more than 200 people were killed in the attack, allegedly carried out by insurgents linked to Boko Haram. In addition to the killings, at least 176 women and children were reportedly abducted, leaving families in deep distress.
Community members noted that many of those kidnapped are relatives of victims who lost their lives, worsening the emotional toll and humanitarian crisis in the area. The situation has intensified calls for a more decisive and coordinated response from authorities.
The development has once again drawn attention to persistent insecurity in parts of Nigeria, with affected communities increasingly demanding concrete action rather than what they view as symbolic interventions.
As tension continues to rise, residents of Woro say their message is clear: restoring safety and rescuing the abducted must take precedence over relief distributions.
