The Kwankwasiyya Movement has commended former senator, Rufa’i Hanga, and former Governor of Kano State, Kabiru Gaya, for demonstrating what it described as exemplary loyalty and sacrifice by accepting the outcome of the movement’s consensus arrangement of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Key Highlights:
  • The Kwankwasiyya Movement praised Rufa’i Hanga and Kabiru Gaya for accepting the outcome of the NDC consensus arrangement ahead of the 2027 elections.
  • Hanga supported the emergence of Nasiru Gawuna as the consensus candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District, while Gaya backed Nasir Batayya for Kano South.
  • The movement described their actions as examples of political maturity, loyalty, discipline, and commitment to collective interests.
  • It also commended other aspirants who accepted the consensus process or took on alternative responsibilities within the movement.
  • The movement congratulated Aminu Gwarzo and urged members to remain united in pursuit of victory for the NDC in the 2027 elections.
The movement, in a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Habibu Mohammed, said the decision by the two political leaders to step aside in support of consensus candidates, reflect the discipline and unity that have continued to define the Kwankwasiyya political family.
According to the statement, Hanga showed remarkable statesmanship by supporting the emergence of former Kano State Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, as the consensus candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District.
The movement also lauded Gaya for accepting the nomination of former President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, Nasir Batayya, as its candidate for Kano South Senatorial District.
“Their sacrifices and commitment to collective interest represent the highest ideals of political maturity, loyalty and discipline,” the statement said.
The movement further expressed appreciation to other aspirants seeking governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly tickets who accepted the outcome of the consensus arrangement or agreed to take up alternative responsibilities in the interest of the movement.

It noted that the conduct of the aspirants underscore the strength of Kwankwasiyya as one of Nigeria’s most disciplined and ideologically driven political movements.
The statement also congratulated all candidates that emerged through the process, particularly the governorship candidate, Aminu Gwarzo, describing his emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the leadership and members of the movement.
The movement urged all candidates to uphold the values of humility, discipline, integrity, accountability and service to the people, stressing that they were not merely seeking public office but serving as ambassadors of the Kwankwasiyya ideology.
It called on members and supporters to remain united and committed to securing victory for the NDC in the forthcoming elections, saying the spirit of sacrifice and discipline exhibited during the consensus process should continue to guide the movement.
