Stakeholders from Oniong West ward in Onna council area of Akwa Ibom state where former Chief of Staff to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen comes from have disassociated themselves from the political ambition of their son describing it as political suicide for swimming against the tide of zoning in the area.
It was gathered that Ephraim Inyangeyen has clinched the ticket of Young Peoples Party (YPP) to contest for Akwa Ibom south senatorial district against the PDP zoning arrangement which does not favour his area in the 2023 general election.
In a meeting held over the weekend at Ikot Ebiere, Onna local government area, the people resolved that since 1999, the area has always embraced PDP and was not ready to be led astray by emergency politicians from another political party.
The people described the senatorial ambition of the former Chief of Staff as a self-seeking ambition and vowed to stand by the existing zoning of PDP to uphold fairness and equity in the allocation of political values and privileges in the senatorial district.

The stakeholders including serving and former political office holders, youth presidents, former councillors, and women leaders from Ikot Ebiere, Ikot Udo, Ikot Ndudot, Okom among other communities of Oniong West maintained that they would not support the ambition of the former Chief as it does not reflect the mind of the people.
Speaking during the meeting at the weekend, the convener of the meeting and former secretary of Onna local government area, Elder Nelson Ntia Nelson said governor Emmanuel has provided purposeful leadership and needed to be supported in his succession plan.
Women leaders said that women always have the greatest population of voters and promised that they will mobilize and vote massively for the PDP and its candidates.
