Nigerian skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has reacted to speculation that his relationship with Nollywood actress Funke Akindele may have hit a rough patch after she failed to attend the premiere of his debut cinema movie, Star Lomo.

In a statement shared on X , the skitmaker addressed what he described as “different opinions” about his relationship with the actress.
“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we’re on good terms,” Kamo State said.
He explained that Funke Akindele did not attend his premiere simply because she was outside Nigeria at the time.
“She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise,” he added.
Kamo State also revealed that he had discussed the premiere with Akindele beforehand and expected her to support the project.
His clarification comes after their relationship became widely known during the production and promotion of Everybody Loves Jenifa in 2024, with Funke Akindele publicly supporting Kamo State and featuring him in some of her projects.
According to reports, Akindele was in Ghana around the time of the Star Lomo premiere, alongside singer Waje, who is part of her forthcoming movie, The Four.
While Kamo State has now given his explanation for Funke Akindele’s absence, the controversy has continued to generate conversations online, with some fans questioning whether there is more to the actress’ absence.
For now, Kamo State has urged the public not to read meaning into the situation, maintaining that he and Funke Akindele remain on good terms.
The attention has meanwhile shifted back to Star Lomo, Kamo State’s debut cinema project, which premiered in Lagos on Sunday.
