Former Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, alongside Shehu Sani and Sunday Katung, have emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries held across Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yero clinched the APC ticket for Kaduna North Senatorial District, after polling 6,060 votes to defeat Muazu Mukaddas, who secured 1,044 votes, while Bala Ikara received 362 votes.
In Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani secured a commanding victory with 9,105 votes.
The Returning Officer, Samira Jibrin, announced that Yusuf Zailani polled 1,021 votes, while Shettima Yerima, despite reportedly withdrawing from the race, garnered 1,253 votes.
Reacting after the exercise, Shehu Sani expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani for their support.
“There is no better representation of the people of Kaduna State than me being their lawmaker and Uba Sani being the governor,” he stated.
The former lawmaker also thanked party supporters for giving him another opportunity to contest and commended Shettima Yerima for stepping down from the race.

He urged party members and aspirants to unite ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging to focus on poverty reduction, unemployment, and attracting federal projects to Kaduna Central if elected.
Meanwhile, Senator Sunday Katung emerged winner of the APC Kaduna South senatorial primary after defeating former Senator Danjuma Laah and Michael Ayuba.
According to the Returning Officer, Prof. John Laah of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Katung polled 7,453 votes, while Danjuma Laah secured 1,370 votes and Ayuba received 878 votes.
The exercise was described as peaceful, transparent, and credible by party officials.
Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Joseph Bege Gaiya, said the results reflected the wishes of party members at the grassroots level and urged aggrieved aspirants to embrace reconciliation and party unity ahead of the general elections.
