The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the date for the conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise.
Key Highlights:
- Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has scheduled the 2026 UTME mop-up examination for June 13, 2026.
- The mop-up exam is for candidates affected by technical issues, biometric failures, or withdrawn results in the main UTME.
- Only properly registered and verified candidates who could not complete the original exam are eligible.
- JAMB said this mop-up is the final phase of the 2026 UTME and no further opportunity will be given afterward.
- Candidates are directed to print exam slips from June 6, 2026, ahead of the exercise.
According to a statement signed by JAMB’s Public Communications Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the mop-up examination is meant for candidates affected by technical glitches, biometric verification failures, and withdrawn results during the main UTME.
JAMB explained that only candidates who were duly registered and successfully verified at their centres but could not complete the examination due to disruptions would participate in the exercise.
The Board said the affected categories include candidates from centres that experienced technical breakdowns, those who encountered biometric verification issues despite presenting themselves for the exam, and candidates whose results were withdrawn over alleged examination malpractice.
The examination body described the mop-up test as the final phase of the 2026 UTME exercise aimed at resolving all pending cases from the nationwide examination.
“The mop-up examination represents the final phase of the annual UTME exercise and serves as an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination,” the statement noted.
JAMB directed affected candidates to begin printing their examination notification slips from June 6, 2026, to confirm their centres and prepare adequately ahead of the examination date.
The board also warned that no further opportunity would be granted after the mop-up exercise and urged candidates to strictly comply with all examination instructions.

The 2026 UTME was conducted between April 16 and April 25, though some centres across the country experienced technical and biometric verification challenges that disrupted the examination process for several candidates.
Earlier in May, JAMB held its annual policy meeting where it approved minimum admissible cut-off marks of 150 for universities, 150 for colleges of nursing sciences, and 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education, while institutions retained the right to set higher benchmarks for competitive courses.
The mop-up examination is expected to conclude the 2026 UTME process ahead of admission screenings and placement exercises by tertiary institutions nationwide.
