The Ikpide-Irri community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State has strongly endorsed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, applauding his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises through his MORE Agenda, aimed at positively transforming the lives of all Deltans.

In a statement released after their recent General Meeting, the community expressed confidence in the governor’s leadership, highlighting his efforts to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. The communique, signed by Ikpide-Irri President General Agbaga Romanus, Vice-President General Hon. Humphrey Odi, and Secretary General Prince Etuwede Gordon, praised Oborevwori for his inclusive governance in a state with diverse ethnic groups and challenging terrains.

The community reaffirmed its unwavering support for the state government’s MORE Agenda and urged Governor Oborevwori to personally visit the recently completed first phase of the 9.1-kilometer Ikpide-Irri Township road. This project, initiated by the previous administration, has brought significant relief to the riverine agricultural community. The Ikpide-Irri leaders appealed to the governor to prioritize the inclusion of the second and third phases of the road in the 2025 budget to ensure continued development in the area.

Additionally, the community expressed profound gratitude to High Chief Immanuel Emoefe, a son of Ikpide-Irri, for his pivotal role in securing the internal road projects. They commended him for his dedication to the community’s progress despite efforts by a few detractors to sow discord.

In a related development, the Ikpide-Irri community has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to urgently address the deteriorating condition of the Odi/Ikpide-Irri road. The road, initially constructed by the NDDC, was severely damaged by the massive 2022 floods, making travel increasingly difficult and driving up transport costs, which has negatively impacted the livelihoods of residents.

In a letter to the NDDC Managing Director, the community urged prompt repairs to the damaged section and requested the expedited awarding of the second phase of the road, which is planned to connect Ikpide-Irri, Canaan, and Obuetor. With the rainy season approaching, the community warned that conditions could worsen if immediate action is not taken.
