The International Human Rights Observatory (IHRO) Africa has commended Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, for her relentless efforts in advocating for women’s rights and the protection of vulnerable groups.
Speaking in Enugu on Wednesday, Amb. Chinelo Ogbata-Ejorh, Special Envoy on Africa Women’s Care and Children Education Fund, praised Obinabo’s commitment to tackling child trafficking, gender-based violence (GBV), and harmful cultural practices that marginalize women.
According to Ogbata-Ejorh, IHRO has been closely monitoring Obinabo’s remarkable contributions, noting that her dedication has positioned her as a trailblazer in women’s affairs nationwide. She urged the public to disregard recent online smear campaigns against the commissioner, labeling them as baseless and misleading.

“In light of recent unfounded allegations, we call on the public to avoid character assassination and instead focus on constructive dialogue. Negative campaigns do not only harm individuals but also undermine the progress made in advancing social welfare,” she stated.
The special envoy emphasized that after a thorough review of the allegations, it was evident that Obinabo had remained steadfast in defending the rights of children, girls, and women. She added that her exemplary leadership had set a benchmark for other commissioners across the country.
IHRO reaffirmed its support for Obinabo, urging Nigerians, stakeholders, and the media to recognize and celebrate leaders who work tirelessly for the betterment of society rather than spreading falsehoods.
“Let us stand together in promoting an atmosphere of encouragement and support for those making a difference in our communities,” Ogbata-Ejorh concluded.
