Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has charged journalists and media organisations to be balanced in crime reportage so as to reduce tension across the country.

The IGP gave the charge in a congratulatory message signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the newly elected Executives of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN).

Recall that Mr Olalekan Olabulo of the Tribune Newspaper, was elected President of CRAN along other elected Executive Officials at the Association’s general elections, which was held on Friday 6th May, 2022 in Lagos State.

CSP Adejobi in the statement said that the IGP noted that the new officials have dignified and distinguished themselves in their various media organisations, adding that their election is a recognition of their years of selfless service and commitment to values.

He therefore charged the new executives and members of the association to work closely with the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring a balanced crime reportage in the interest of the country.
