The Isoko Association of North America has doled out food items to Isoko flood victims at the Isoko Unity House Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.
Items presented were 196 bags of rice to communities that were affected by the flood to celebrate the festive season.
The communities that received the items were: Isoko South, Oleh 8 bags of rice, Irri 8 bags of rice, Idheze 5 bags, Ikpide 6 bags, Ivrogbo 6 bags, Uro 4 bags, Orie 4 bags, Utue 3 bags, Ada 4 bags, Ivori 3 bags, Kannan 2 bags, Ogbokor 1 bag, Aviara 7 bags, Araya 5 bags, Egbeme 2 bags, Edherie 3 bags, Ewokpaka 2 bags, Aberu 2 bags, Ughelli- Aviara 2 bags, Ukpudhe 2 bags, Okpara 2bags, Otoka 1 bags, Olomoro 7 bags, Okpolo 3 and half bags, Enhwe 3 and half bags, Emede bags, Uzere 8 bags, Ekregbesi 2 bags and Able 1 bag.
Others are; Igbide 12 bags, Umeh 6 bags and Erhowa 6 bags, Ellu 6 bags, Aradhe 5 bags, Ovrode 6 bags, Okpe 6 bags, Oyede 5 bags, Ibrede 7 bags, Uli-Iyede 4 bags and Ozoro 8 bags.
Presenting the food items the President of the Isoko Association of North America, Chief Mrs Queen Olomu said, “The past two months of this year have been so challenging for our people. The disaster that occurred was a result of various reasons for which we are the culprits and sadly also the victims.
“We watched as our people lost their lives and properties to the flood that ravaged our dear Isoko nation and other parts of the state.
According to her, “It is true that we cannot completely avoid natural disasters, but we can learn how to manage them and reduce the damage they can cause in the future.
“The major aftermath of disasters like this is usually scarcity of food and other agricultural produce as a result of the massive destruction to crops and livestock.”

She stated that, although it is small, the modest contribution will at least ease the burden of our people affected by the flood.
“But even as we still reel from the great loss and pain caused by the flood, we should remember all hope is not lost, we can still rebuild all that was destroyed.”
She commended every individual, organisation and NGO that has contributed to put smiles back on the faces of the flood victims in Isoko nation, noting that, the most important thing on earth is life, and they must do everything to protect and preserve it.
Also speaking during the distribution of the food items the 2nd vice-president of Isoko Development Union (IDU) Chief Dan Odhomo commended the Isoko Association of North America for the wonderful kind gesture.
Chief Odhomo lamented that Isoko nation was brutally ravaged by the flood and for Isoko Association of North America to put their resources together to assist their brothers and sisters here, they deserve commendation.
He enjoined the President of the IANA to pass the message to members of the association that what they brought to our people was received in good faith.
