The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has challenged social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) over claims that he prayed for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the 2027 presidential election.
Key Highlights
- Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo denies praying for Tinubu, Shettima and the APC to win in 2027.
- He says his prayers in Israel focused on peace, justice and preventing election rigging.
- VDM had questioned the cleric’s reported prayers in a video, citing his past criticism of the government over insecurity.
- Dachomo warns Tinubu’s campaign against using his name.
- He calls for justice and peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims.
Dachomo, who has repeatedly drawn attention to insecurity and attacks on communities in Plateau State, denied praying for Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and the APC to emerge victorious in the next election.
Instead, the cleric said his prayers during a recent visit to Israel focused on peace, justice and preventing electoral malpractice in Nigeria.
VDM’s Claim
The controversy follows a video shared by VDM, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, in which he questioned the cleric’s reported prayers for Tinubu after his previous criticism of the federal government over insecurity.
VDM expressed surprise at the development, recalling Dachomo’s efforts to draw international attention to killings in Plateau State and other parts of the Middle Belt.
The activist also questioned whether the cleric had used his visit to Israel to raise concerns about the killings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other world leaders.
VDM further suggested that Dachomo’s reported prayers for Tinubu’s success could indicate a change in his position, although the cleric has rejected that interpretation.
‘Which Success?’
Responding in a statement shared on social media, Dachomo questioned what VDM meant by electoral success and insisted that his prayers were directed against those planning to manipulate the 2027 polls.
“My dear brethren, I greet you all in the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
“I heard that VDM shared a video saying I prayed for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket to succeed in the 2027 election.
“You are just saying, Rev. Dachomo has prayed for success. Which success? The success of rigging elections?” he said.
The cleric also declared that he wanted those planning electoral malpractice to fail, stressing that his position was not an endorsement of any political party.
“While Muslim-Muslim ticket supporters are thinking of rigging elections, the only thing I am praying for is that they should fail in their evil deeds.
“Let them fail in their evil thinking. Let the evil ones in Nigeria fail woefully in whatever they are doing,” he added.

Warning To Tinubu Campaign
Dachomo also warned against the use of his name to promote Tinubu’s re-election campaign, saying such actions misrepresented his position.
“To the campaign organisation of Tinubu, anybody who is using my name wrongly for campaigns is doing a great injustice to Tinubu. You evil men are saying I use my name to say I pray for Tinubu,” he said.
The cleric further called for divine intervention against attempts to manipulate the election, warning against the use of violence and thugs during the polls.
“I pray that any evil spirit that will lure this government into rigging elections will catch fire. Any satanic power that will raise thugs to rig elections, let it catch fire so that justice will prevail.
“Any spirit or person that is going to rig these elections, let the wrath of God destroy their evil plans,” he added.
Concluding his statement, Dachomo called for justice, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between Christians and Muslims, saying his desire was for Nigerians to protect one another regardless of religious differences.
“We need justice. We need the fear of God in both Muslims and Christians so that we can live lives of love and protect one another. That is what my heart desires,” he wrote.
The exchange has brought renewed attention to the cleric’s position on insecurity, religious coexistence and the 2027 general election, as well as the interpretation of his prayers during his visit to Israel.
