Veteran broadcaster Frank Edoho has revealed that he earned slightly above N100,000 monthly during the early years of hosting the Nigerian edition of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’, despite the glamorous image associated with the role.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Edoho said his earnings during the first two years on the show were relatively modest, even though he was expected to appear wealthy and polished on television.
“On Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, for the first two years, my salary was just a hundred and something thousand naira per month.
“But I had to dress in suits and look like I owned all the money,” he said.
The television personality explained that his financial situation improved after the MTN Group came on board as the programme’s sponsor.
According to him, he later negotiated a new salary package with the production company, which also included three months’ arrears.
Edoho said the improved pay eventually led to more opportunities, including hosting events across the country and gaining wider recognition in the entertainment industry.
“The rewards started coming in. I was hosting events everywhere, travelling around and getting more opportunities,” he added.

“Even though life came with ups and downs, you have to learn how to separate those challenges and keep your eyes on your goals,” he said.
Edoho hosted the Nigerian version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ for more than 13 years and remains one of Nigeria’s most recognised television presenters.
