The Federal Government is stepping up efforts to tackle poverty and improve support for vulnerable citizens, with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction seeking strategic partnerships to drive its ambitious One Humanitarian One Poverty Reduction System (OHOPRS) initiative.
The move was highlighted during a meeting on Wednesday in Abuja where the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard M. Doro, received a delegation from Interaction Networks, a group advocating innovative solutions for digital inclusion and social development.
The delegation expressed interest in collaborating with the ministry to support the implementation of OHOPRS, a flagship framework designed to streamline humanitarian interventions and poverty reduction programmes across Nigeria.
Welcoming the proposal, Dr. Doro emphasized that the ministry remains open to partnerships capable of delivering measurable impact but stressed that all collaborations would undergo a transparent and competitive selection process.
According to him, the ministry is determined to ensure that only partners with the capacity, innovation and commitment to support national development goals are engaged.
While noting that many organisations have shown interest in contributing to poverty alleviation efforts, the minister commended Interaction Networks for its forward-looking approach and willingness to align with the government’s vision.
The OHOPRS framework represents one of the ministry’s most significant reform initiatives. Built on the principle of “One System, One Register, One Pathway,” the programme seeks to bring together humanitarian assistance, social protection schemes and long-term development interventions under a single coordinated structure.
Officials say the model is expected to eliminate duplication of programmes, improve data management and ensure that support reaches those who need it most in a more efficient and accountable manner.

The initiative also aims to create a unified database for beneficiaries, allowing government agencies and development partners to work from a common platform in addressing poverty, displacement and other humanitarian challenges.
A statement issued by the ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Janet McDickson Noah, said the engagement reflects the ministry’s commitment to building broad-based partnerships that can accelerate poverty reduction and strengthen social safety nets nationwide.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic pressures and rising humanitarian needs, the ministry believes collaboration between government, development organisations and private-sector stakeholders will be critical to achieving sustainable solutions and improving the lives of millions of vulnerable Nigerians.
