The Host Communities (Oil & Gas Producing) HOSTCOM in Delta State have decided to suspend their previously planned protest. The decision was announced in a letter addressed to the Governor, signed by State Chairman Comrade Sunday Enujeke, State Secretary Joseph Lamienghan, and eight other members of the leadership team.
In the letter, HOSTCOM highlighted that on July 31, 2024, they had issued a 21-day protest notice due to the longstanding concerns over what they perceive as neglect by the state government. Key issues raised included the need for operational vehicles, training and capacity-building programs, proper management of the 13% oil derivation funds, and the rehabilitation of HOSTCOM’s headquarters and ICT center.
