**Abeokuta, Ogun State** – Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for stronger socio-economic empowerment initiatives targeted at individuals living below the poverty line during LAPO’s 2024 half-year business review. The event, held in Abeokuta, brought together key stakeholders, board members, and LAPO’s management team to evaluate the organization’s performance and discuss strategies for the remainder of the year.
Obasanjo emphasized the necessity of sustainable financial solutions to promote grassroots development, urging LAPO to continue its impactful work in uplifting the economically disadvantaged. He stated, “I am pleased with the progress LAPO has made over the years in its commitment to grassroots development.”
The review highlighted LAPO’s ongoing efforts to empower low-income earners, particularly women, through microfinance and social intervention programs. The event featured comprehensive presentations on LAPO’s financial performance, challenges, and strategic objectives for the second half of 2024. Discussions also covered the planned expansion of LAPO’s services, including healthcare, agricultural support, and educational initiatives aimed at fostering community development across Nigeria.
