Nigeria’s Under-18 men’s handball team have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Africa Men’s Youth Handball Championship after recording a convincing 45-27 victory over Madagascar in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian youngsters overcame a competitive opening half before turning on the style after the break to seal a commanding win against Madagascar.
Madagascar stayed within reach during the first half, but Nigeria managed to take a 16-13 advantage into the interval.
The West Africans returned from the break with greater intensity, stepping up their attacking play and extending their lead as the game progressed.

Akibu Muhammed was named Man of the Match following an outstanding individual display.
The result further strengthens Nigeria’s campaign in Abidjan as the team now turns its attention to the quarter-final stage of the competition.
