Norway’s striker Erling Haaland has completed a move to the Premier League champions Manchester City after months of speculation about the player’s future away from Bundesliga.
Haaland, who was highly courted by Barcelona and Real Madrid finally consented to move to England which will see the 21-year-old spur the campaign of Pep Guardiola’s side to their first UEFA Champions League success.
In a statement to confirm the agreement has been reached with the Blues of Manchester, the player who scored an average of 0.97 goals for Dortmund in all appearances, noted that it was a privilege to play for a club he has always admired their style of processing the game.
He added that going by the lots of chances City create in their attack, it produces a perfect blend to aid him to complement the team’s effort.

“This is a proud day for me and my family,” Haaland said after an agreement was reached between the City and Dortmund according to BBC Sports.
“I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play – it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me,” he added.
The Norwegian joined Dortmund from Molde FK where he amassed 20 goals in 50 appearances and was named the UEFA Nations League top scorer in 2021.
Furthermore, he praised City for parading lots of world-class stars, adding that Guardiola is among the greatest managers in football history.
He continued: “There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep [Guardiola] is one of the greatest managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions.
“I want to score goals, win trophies, and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me, and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season,” Haaland stated.
According to reports, Haaland having sealed the 5-year deal to Manchester City that will see him at the Etihad until 2027, will officially join the club on July 1, 2022.
Meanwhile, Manchester City football director Txiki Begiristain has commended the move of Erling Haaland to Etihad, stressing that the player is a perfect fit for the task ahead.
The Spanish underlined that the player has been exceptional with a prolific goalscoring record that distinguishes him as one of the best strikers in Europe.
