Unknown gunmen this weekend invaded a state government-owned Mimiko market and NASFAT Schools in Ikare, Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo state killing two security guards.
The two murdered security guards were, Odase Emmanuel, 70, and Kasali Giwa, 75
The Trumpet gathered that after the killing, the guard’s head and hand were cut off.
Source told The Trumpet that the deceased were found in the pool of blood on Saturday morning.
“The gunmen killed one of the guards, cut off his head, and placed the head beside his body.
“The other man’s hand was cut and the dismembered hand was also placed beside him.
“The killers did not take anything from the deceased before they left the scene.”
Some inhabitants of the ancient community said the killers were ritual killers but wondered why the dismembered bodies were not taken away.

At the time of filing this report, Police detectives from the Ikare Division had taken the corpses to the mortuary of the Ondo State Specialists Hospital. Ikare Akoko.
When contacted, the state Police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the killings of the two old men.
She said investigation had commenced to unravel the reason behind their killings and implored the residents of the community to continue their businesses.
Odunlami, who said the state police command was on top of the situation, assured the people that the killers would soon be arrested and made to face the music.
She further said detectives have been deployed to the community to fish out the killers.
