In a statement on Monday, the group’s Chairman, Chief Philip Udonsi, hinted that there are suspicious moves by some desperate politicians aimed at fuelling fresh cult-related crises in Andoni Local Government Area.
He alleged that the suspicious plan, if not nipped in the bud, may be carried out during the political campaigns, thereby exposing communities to security risks.
Call For Peacebuilding, Issue-Based Campaigns
He therefore urged community and religious leaders, as well as security agencies and civil society groups, to intensify peacebuilding efforts and discourage activities capable of triggering fresh conflicts in the area.
“We are worried over the disturbing body language and conduct of some political actors. We suspect their actions could trigger cultism, intimidation and violence, particularly during the campaigns,” he said.

Group Commends LG Chairman’s Peace Efforts
The group, however, commended the local government Chairman, Mr. Lucky Otuo, for his efforts to restore peace, security and normalcy in communities previously affected by cult-related violence.
“The chairman’s peace efforts in Muma, Pipeline, Iwokiri and other communities where residents suffered the devastating consequences of cult-related conflicts and insecurity are quite commendable.
“We appeal to all politicians and well-meaning individuals to support the chairman’s peace initiatives aimed at rebuilding public confidence and restoring the economy of our local communities,” he added.
