A political support group, the Plateau Vanguard for Democracy (PVD), has defended Governor Caleb Mutfwang over his reported alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting the move was driven by political realities and the need to protect Plateau State’s interests amid what it described as the worsening crisis within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued by the group’s National Coordinator, Chris Ishaku, the PVD said recent developments within the PDP had vindicated Gov. Mutfwang’s political calculations, alleging that the opposition party was steadily collapsing under internal instability and uncertainty.
According to the group, emerging indications that even influential figures within the PDP were seeking alternative political platforms for their loyalists showed that the party could no longer guarantee stability for governance and development.
“Governor Mutfwang saw ahead of many others. The reality today is that the PDP has no clear future, and responsible leaders must position their people where opportunities and stability exist,” Ishaku stated.
